TipDodge Sky Strike, and keep a defensive for the one you can't

Your second-best key of the 47 on record — and the one death was a single hit larger than your entire health pool, on the only Sky Strike all key that found exactly one person.

This was a good night and the grade is not flattering you. Across the 47 graded keys you have on record, this is your second-highest composite; the only better one is a Ruby Life Pools +12, three key levels easier. Your healing axes all landed in your personal top three, and the key was never close to being lost.

Whose fault was the rest of it: not yours. Four people died and three of those were the hunter, who pressed no defensive cooldown in any of the three windows — including twice to the same ability inside twenty-six seconds, the second time after you spent a battle resurrection standing him back up. There was nothing in your kit that changes those.

Your own death is the one honest thing to take away, and it is worth being precise about rather than filing it under bad luck. It could not have been healed and it could not have been out-geared. It could have been stood out of — the party was already doing exactly that, and the two casts before the one that killed you landed on nobody at all.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Treat Sky Strike as a hard dodge, not a healing check. At roughly half your health bar per hit and double that when it lands alone on you, there is no throughput answer to it.
  2. On Watchful Harrower packs, watch the ~25-second Sky Strike cadence and keep a defensive for the cast you cannot get clear of — a 20% reduction turns the hit that killed you into a survivable one.
  3. Holy Power overcap was 141 of 866 generated (16%), in line with your recent keys. Still the cheapest throughput left on the table if you want one thing to tighten.
  4. Raise Lava Bolt with the group, not with yourself — 24 of 53 got through and the kick coverage was uneven across the three who had one.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

What you actually did well

Three numbers are worth translating, because the tables state them as scores and a score on its own is not usable.

**Throughput 96.** Arbiter does not divide your healing by the damage the party took — it divides it by the damage that actually *needed an outside heal*, after removing everything the party healed or shielded off itself and everything that was overkill. Of the 193 million that met that bar, you covered 87% of it. That is your third-highest reading in 47 keys.

**Response 97.** This asks whether your output rose when the party was actually in trouble, rather than whether it was high on average. In the windows Arbiter marks as the party's worst, 100 million landed and you put back 52% of it. Also third-highest of 47.

**Activity 95.** The share of your time alive and in combat spent actually casting, with procs and passive ticks stripped out so a busy-looking spec cannot inflate it. 94% engaged is your second-highest ever. There is very little idle time in this key.

The one soft axis is **utility, at 75** — 41 presses of roughly 80 that your talented kit offered over the run. That is mid-pack for you: 24th of 47. It is not a bad number and, on a Holy Paladin with no interrupt, most of that denominator is Hammer of Justice.

The death, measured

These figures are read straight from the combat log and are not in the tables above.

At 23:37 Sky Strike, from a Watchful Harrower, hit you for **750,724**. Your maximum health was **741,920**. The hit was 101% of your pool, and 0.41 seconds earlier you were at 741,920 of 741,920 — completely full. No heal lands in that gap and no health pool survives it. That is why the report shows no healing received and no defensive pressed: there was no window in which either would have been a decision.

What makes it worth looking at is the size. The largest Sky Strike you took in any other cast all key was **375,362** — the killing hit was exactly double it. Across the key the ability landed at roughly half your health bar each time it caught you.

And that cast found only you. Every other Sky Strike that landed all key hit three, four or five players; this one hit **one**. The other three living players — Arcane Mage, Unholy DK and Veng DH — were sitting at full health through the whole window and took none of it. The hunter was dead at the time. Better still, the two casts immediately before it, at about 22:35 and 23:01, landed on **nobody**: the party was dodging this on cadence and it was working.

The ability is telegraphed and regular — roughly 25 seconds between casts and about 5.3 seconds from the cast starting to the damage arriving. So the read is not that you were unlucky, and not that you misplayed the heal. You were caught by a mechanic your group had already demonstrated it could avoid, and at double strength it is not survivable from full health without mitigation.

What the grade excused, and why you should ignore it here

Your **mechanics** axis reads 100 — 'no damage that comparable players did not take'. That is not right in this case, and it is worth knowing why so you do not read the 100 as absolution.

That axis charges you only for damage the rest of the party avoided, because in a combat log unavoidable raid damage and a mistake everyone made are the same shape. Sky Strike hit all five of you at some point over the key — 47 hits for about 13 million — so it went onto the 'landed on most of the party' list and was excused for everybody, including on the one cast where it landed on exactly one person.

The axis is right about the ability in general and wrong about that cast. The 100 is a limitation of the measurement, not a verdict that the death was unavoidable.

The rest of the party

**BM Hunter (BM Hunter, D+)** took three of the four deaths and pressed no personal defensive in any of the three. Two of them were the same ability — Whirling Gust — at 21:54 and 22:20, the second twenty-six seconds after the first and after your battle resurrection. His grade is carried almost entirely by that; his damage was within a few percent of the other two.

**Interrupts** are the group's real gap. 51 of 82 stoppable casts were stopped, 62%. Nearly all of the miss is one spell: **Lava Bolt, 24 of 53 through**. By expected share, Veng DH hit his number exactly (20 of 20) and Unholy DK and BM Hunter beat theirs; Arcane Mage managed 4 stops against about 10 expected. You have no interrupt on the bar so this axis is dropped for you entirely rather than scored — it is a group note, not yours, though your three Hammer of Justice stops are counted in the group total.

**Dispels** were clean: both known-dispellable debuffs were cleansed and nothing came through. Two is too small a sample for Arbiter to grade, so the axis is dropped rather than handing you a free 100.
