Bad pullpulled with the healer 130 yd awayBlood DKAvoidable damageall 5 stacked inside InfernogroupTipWhen yours is the only kick up, Cinderbolt is yours

Abandoned at 9:08 of a 28:00 par after the fire pack past Melidrussa killed three in five seconds: a pull entered without the healer, then all five inside Inferno when it landed.

This key did not run out of time; it ran out of people. You were 9:08 into a 28:00 par with one boss down and nineteen minutes left when the group came apart, eight seconds after the third death, with you and the tank at full health and the Destroyer at 57% (read off the raw log).

The wipe was a chain, and most of it was outside your control. Blood DK engaged the Blazebound Destroyer pack at 8:06 while Resto Druid was 130 yards away refilling mana after leaving the boss at 7%; her first heal on the pull landed at 8:31. That solo start stretched the pull to 45 seconds, long enough for a second Inferno, a Living Bomb on the healer and a Cinderbolt to land inside the same ten seconds. Inferno is the mechanic nobody moved for: the first hit nobody because nobody had reached the pack, the second hit all five because everyone was stacked on the mob. Resto Druid died under the bomb plus Inferno, BM Hunter died to Inferno alone with nothing left to press, and Arms Warrior died to a Cinderbolt that only your Rebuke could have stopped. That one is yours.

Your sheet is the best of the five: top damage of the three dealers, no deaths, a battle resurrection four seconds after the healer died on the boss, and a Divine Protection that absorbed the last two Inferno ticks. The thing to fix is kick discipline: ten of your sixteen Rebukes landed on a cast someone else had already stopped.

How it went

  1. 7:17Resto Druid to Hailbombs from Melidrussa Chillworn. No defensive pressed.
  2. 8:47CascadeResto Druid, BM Hunter and Arms Warrior in 5 s, to Living Bomb, Inferno and Cinderbolt. Resto Druid went first. 1 of 3 with no defensive pressed.
  3. 9:08The key was dropped 9:08 in, with 18:00 left on the timer.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Call a kick order before the boss (tank, you, Arms Warrior, BM Hunter) or hold Rebuke until the cast bar has run half a second: ten of your sixteen Rebukes hit a cast that was already stopped, and five of the six Frigid Shards that got through came while every DPS kick was on cooldown from that.
  2. When a Blazebound Destroyer starts Inferno (3.5-second bar), be twenty yards from it before the bar fills. It cannot be kicked or stunned, the debuff is stamped on everyone in range at cast end, and it ticks for five seconds wherever you go afterwards.
  3. When yours is the only kick up, the cast is yours: at 8:48 Rebuke had been ready for a second, you were five yards from the Cinderweaver, and the Cinderbolt that finished at 8:51 one-shot Arms Warrior.
  4. Blood DK: do not engage a Cinderweaver pack with the healer 130 yards out; five Cinderbolts in twenty seconds took you to 21%. Resto Druid: when the tank's bar shows 34%, stop topping off and move; the last seventeen seconds of Innervate cost the pull more than the mana was worth.
  5. Nothing to change on defensives or utility: Intercession in four seconds, Sacrifice on arrival, Divine Protection absorbing two full ticks. Keep that timing.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

How the pull was entered

Times and distances here are read off the raw log's position fields, which the tables do not carry.

Resto Druid finished Melidrussa at 18,801 of 260,000 mana, having died to Hailbombs at 7:17 and been raised by your Intercession at 7:21. The boss died at 7:28. She then mounted, rode off and refilled with Innervate (7:59 to 8:07) and a mana stone, standing at full health 130 yards from the next pack with BM Hunter beside her. Blood DK engaged the Destroyer pack at 8:06.6 with nobody else within thirty yards.

It cost the tank five Cinderbolts in twenty seconds (292k, 300k, 328k, 346k, 190k) on Death Strike alone, 34% at 8:10 and 21% at 8:20. He also kicked all four Fiery Blasts and pre-shielded the first Inferno with Anti-Magic Shell. Resto Druid Wild Charged in at 8:23 with a full bar; you threw Sacrifice from 37 yards at 8:28, two seconds before a Cinderbolt put him at 33%; Arms Warrior and BM Hunter were in position by 8:35. The pull ran to 8:51, and at 45 seconds the Destroyer got a second Inferno off and the Cinderweaver a Living Bomb and two more Cinderbolts.

Inferno: the first one hit nobody, the second hit everyone

Inferno (spell 373692) is a 3.5-second cast. When the bar fills, a debuff is stamped on every player in range and ticks for five seconds: 117,928 a tick on BM Hunter and Arms Warrior, after a 180k-300k hit on application. It cannot be kicked (the client data behind the codex gives it PreventionType 0, which is why the leaked-cast board omits it), and BM Hunter's pet stun came back IMMUNE, so it cannot be stunned either. The only counter is distance at the moment the cast finishes.

The key proved that twice. The first Inferno finished at 8:17.9 and applied to nobody: Blood DK, two yards from the mob under Anti-Magic Shell, logged IMMUNE, and the other four were thirty to 130 yards away. The second finished at 8:44.6 and applied to all five. Resto Druid, farthest at sixteen yards, was still inside; nobody moved during the bar. Your ticks stopped after the third only because Divine Protection at 8:47.7 put up Shield of Vengeance, which absorbed the last two in full; nobody left the radius.

Read the mechanics column with that in mind: everyone scores 100 because the grader files Inferno under damage that landed on most of the party, unable to tell unavoidable raid damage from a circle all five stood in. This was the second thing, and it decided the key.

Three deaths in five seconds

Resto Druid, 8:46. Living Bomb landed on her at 8:40.6; the tables show it as 854,586 of her 1,207,011 window, which the raw log splits into five ticks of 118k-169k (Barkskin at 8:42.8 is visible in the drop) and a 154,538 explosion. She had moved sixteen yards off the pack, so the explosion hit only her, which was right. Inferno added 352k. Her casts in those six seconds were five Rejuvenations and Barkskin: no Swiftmend, no Regrowth, and Nature's Swiftness last pressed at 7:29. The healing she got was your 418,906. A 779k-health druid taking 1.2M in six seconds needed a cooldown she had.

BM Hunter, 8:49. All 884,456 of his window was Inferno, the 294,818 application plus five ticks of 117,928, dying on the fifth. He pressed nothing because nothing was left: Aspect of the Turtle at 7:11 on the boss, Exhilaration at 8:12, and Survival of the Fittest at 8:34, ten seconds before Inferno started, at 100% health.

Arms Warrior, 8:51. He had eaten the whole Inferno (796,630) and was at 262k when a Cinderbolt started at 8:48.7. His Pummel had gone at 8:37.6 into a Fiery Blast Blood DK had already stopped, so it was down until 8:52.6; Spell Reflection had already eaten the 8:42 Cinderbolt. BM Hunter was dead; Blood DK's Mind Freeze went to a Fiery Blast at 8:52. Your Rebuke had been ready since 8:48.0 and you were five yards from the Cinderweaver; you cast Divine Protection at 8:47.7 and Divine Storm at 8:49.9. The bolt landed at 8:51.5 for 424,933.

Your sheet: what to keep and what to change

Outside your control: the entry to the pull, the healer's death on the boss, and an Inferno nobody knew to leave.

Keep: 302,652 damage a second was top of the three dealers at 103% of the others' median. No deaths. Intercession 3.7 seconds after Resto Druid died to Hailbombs, Sacrifice on the tank from 37 yards before you were even in melee, Hammer of Justice holding the Cinderweaver for six seconds at 8:42, and a Divine Protection timed so Shield of Vengeance absorbed two full ticks. Holy Power overcap of 164 of 619 (26%) is the usual AoE flood, not tonight's problem.

Change: interrupts. The axis credits you with eight stops against seven expected and reads 81: six Rebukes plus two casts it credits to your stuns. The raw cast list adds this: you pressed Rebuke sixteen times. Six stopped a cast. Ten landed on a cast already ended 0.1 to 0.5 seconds earlier, eight by another player's kick, one by Blood DK's stop on an Ice Shield, one by a pet stun. On Melidrussa it was eight presses for two stops. Each of those parks Rebuke for fifteen seconds, and five of the six Frigid Shards that got through on the boss came while every DPS kick was down from a pile-on. You were not alone (Arms Warrior 17 presses for 6 stops, BM Hunter 13 for 5, Blood DK 17 for 13), but you were the largest share, and the one Cinderbolt that mattered came when yours was the only kick up.
