Overpull14 mobs with the healer 135 yd backProt Paladin

The group proved it could clear the mobs it wiped on — pull 9 tried 14 at once with the healer 135 yards back and the cooldowns spent.

Voidscar Arena +15 was abandoned at 21:47 with 8:13 on the clock, but it was not lost to gear or damage. It was lost to one pull.

At 17:28, twelve seconds after Atroxus died, the tank pulled fourteen mobs at once — post-Atroxus pack A, pack B, and the patrolling Watchful Harrower — with the healer still 135 yards back at the boss's corpse and most of the party's defensive cooldowns spent on Atroxus. Eight deaths in forty-five seconds.

The proof that this was a decision and not a capability gap came at 19:03: the group re-engaged the same thirteen mobs, without the Harrower, and cleared them in 88 seconds with zero deaths. Same players, same mobs, same key level, a different pull.

The 09-15 group (same dungeon, same +15, different group except Hyporock) took the same stretch as eight then five, twenty-seven seconds apart, and timed the key in 26:46 with one death. The group had 12:45 left when Atroxus died; that group needed 9:38 for the same stretch. The margin was about three minutes, and pull 9 alone cost 3:35.

Fix the pull. The rest was already there.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Split the post-Atroxus pull: eight, then five, with twenty-seven seconds between. The group proved it could clear the mobs; the first pull was the decision that cost the key.
  2. The tank waits for the healer. 135 yards is not a pull. Twenty-five seconds of Ghost Wolf is cheap; eight deaths are not.
  3. Prot Paladin presses a defensive before Hulking Claw. The cast is 2.0 seconds and hits for 900k+. Divine Shield was available at 16:14.
  4. Pause before chaining into a fresh pack after a long clear. The 20:35 pull lost the healer and a DPS. Ten seconds to let a cooldown come back costs less than the deaths it prevents.
  5. Change nothing about the damage dealers. Arcane Mage 239k, Hyporock 234k, Arms Warrior 208k — within 10% of the timed group's three. The output was there.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

The pull that killed it

At 17:28, twelve seconds after Atroxus died, the tank pulled fourteen mobs at once: post-Atroxus pack A (eight), pack B (five), and the patrolling Watchful Harrower — the last of them tagged from 96 yards by the Vanguard line off Avenger's Shield, not walked to. Zero of them died. Eight deaths in forty-five seconds. The party took 41,054,279 damage in that window and had nothing to show for it.

Three things were wrong with that pull. The healer was 135 yards away, still at Atroxus' corpse — Resto Shaman's last cast before the pull was Ghost Wolf at 17:19.8, the next at 17:45.2, and in those twenty-five seconds they moved sixty yards, which a wolf covers in seven; the first heal landed twenty-two seconds into the fight, 1.8 seconds before the first two deaths. The cooldowns were spent: Ardent Defender 46s, Divine Shield 148s, Spirit Link 134s, Rallying Cry 138s, Die by the Sword 31s, all still recharging from the boss. And fourteen mobs is roughly twice what the dungeon asks — the 09-15 timed group took the same stretch as eight then five, twenty-seven seconds apart, without the Harrower, and cleared it in 1:39 with zero deaths.

The group had 12:45 left when Atroxus died. That group needed 9:38 for the stretch that remained. The margin was about three minutes; pull 9 alone cost 3:35.

The proof, and the second failure

The proof that this was a pull decision and not a capability gap came at 19:03. The group re-engaged the same thirteen mobs — pack A plus pack B, this time without the Harrower — and cleared them in 88 seconds with zero deaths. Thirteen kills, no one died. The mobs were never the problem.

Then at 20:35, with pull 9's mobs dead and the group intact, they chained straight into the next pack: Enthralled Shaman, two Savage Shredclaw, a Kilivore Screamer, two Lost Sethrak, two Voidminder, a second Devouring Brutalizer — nine mobs, 2.7 seconds after the last kill. Arms Warrior died at 20:52, Hyporock at 20:59, Resto Shaman at 21:23, Arcane Mage at 21:24. The key was abandoned twenty-two seconds later.

Separately, Prot Paladin died at 16:14 to Hulking Claw for 914,332 — a hit that took him from roughly 70% to zero. The cast is 2.0 seconds, and the tank had Divine Shield available (last used at 7:19, off a 5-minute cooldown). It was not pressed; Blessing of Sacrifice had gone on Arms Warrior five seconds before the cast began. That is the one individual death on this key worth a specific fix. Hyporock's 18:36 death was the other kind: a run-back into the live Harrower with nobody else alive, 2.2 million of melee in 6.3 seconds and no heal landed — a consequence of the wipe, not a cause.

Where the grader misleads

Three numbers in the report are wrong for this run.

The mechanics axis reads 100 for four of five players because Savage Leap, Nether Dash and Void Beam were excused as enemy-chosen (the cast names its target). On Taz'Rah, the five Ethereal Shades' Nether Dash is a positioning problem the axis structurally cannot see — 28,458,164 damage, 8% of party intake, and every player gets a pass. Treat mechanics as unmeasured.

The healer's throughput 54 is a floor, not a grade. Demand was 161,001/s, past the 130,287/s 95th percentile of the 55-key corpus the curve was cut on. Resto Shaman healed 126k HPS against the timed group's 122k — comparable output against higher demand. The 54 is what a coverage ratio does when the key asks more than the curve has ever seen.

The survival deductions — 28 for Hyporock, 39 for Arms Warrior, 61 for everyone else — are the two wipes counted on five sheets. They describe the pulls. The only individual survival finding worth reading is Prot Paladin's Atroxus death.

What to change

  • Split the post-Atroxus pull: eight, then five, with twenty-seven seconds between. The group proved it could clear the mobs; the first pull was the decision that cost the key.
  • The tank waits for the healer. 135 yards is not a pull. Twenty-five seconds of Ghost Wolf is cheap; eight deaths are not.
  • Prot Paladin presses a defensive before Hulking Claw. The cast is 2.0 seconds and hits for 900k+. Divine Shield was available at 16:14.
  • Pause before chaining into a fresh pack after a long clear. The 20:35 pull lost the healer and a DPS. Ten seconds to let a cooldown come back costs less than the deaths it prevents.
  • Change nothing about the damage dealers. Arcane Mage 239k, Hyporock 234k, Arms Warrior 208k — within 10% of the timed group's three. The output was there.
