Wrong targetRitual Chieftains lived ~60 s eachgroupBad pullpull 2 went with cooldowns downgroupTipPut Wake of Ashes and Divine Toll into the Chieftain

Each Ritual Chieftain lived 62 s after dropping its totem, and the totems were 27% of the damage taken.

The kill order cost this key. A Ritual Chieftain has 20.3M health and the five of you were doing 1.45M per second together, so one should die in about 14 seconds. All four lived between 48 and 72 seconds after dropping their totem. While a chieftain is in combat its Unstable Totem hits the whole party every 2 seconds. That came to 26.0M, or 27% of everything the party took, and the same mob absorbed another 27.4M of healing with Blood Sacrifice.

The 2:56 wipe was the totem as well. It was 41% of the damage in Disc Priest's fatal window and 38% in BM Hunter's, and a Venom Leech pop for about 750k finished two people who were already low.

From the write-up

Your 376k was 88% of the other two damage dealers, inside the noise over 6 minutes. Where it went matters more. Put Wake of Ashes and Divine Toll into the Ritual Chieftain. You were also out of defensives by 3:01, having spent Blessing of Protection at 0:23, Lay on Hands at 1:08, a potion at 1:22, Divine Shield at 1:27 and Divine Protection at 2:30. That is reasonable use, but the back half of a pull has nothing left.

How it went

  1. 2:57CascadeDisc Priest, BM Hunter, Hyporock and Arcane Mage in 5 s, to Septic Spatter and Piercing Hiss. Disc Priest went first. 2 of 4 with no defensive pressed.
  2. 6:07Veng DH to Melee from Venom Leech. Demon Spikes in the window.
  3. 6:28Hyporock to Ravenous Claws from Ravenous Descendant. No defensive pressed.
  4. 6:39The key was dropped 6:39 in, with 21:59 left on the timer.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Kill the Ritual Chieftain first in every pack that has one. It is 20.3M, about 14 seconds of the party's full damage, and the totem stops the moment it dies.
  2. Veng DH: open on the chieftain rather than a Descendant or a Leech, so the party's damage starts on the right target.
  3. BM Hunter and Arcane Mage: Aspect of the Turtle and Alter Time were both up and unused at the deaths at 2:56 and 3:01.
  4. Nothing to change on avoidable damage. The three biggest sources all landed on 5 of 5 players and none of them can be moved out of.

What the group changes together

Three things, in cost order. First, kill order. The Ritual Chieftain has to die before the Descendants and the Serpents, and right now it dies last in every pull. Second, cooldown spacing. Pull 2 opened 6.7 seconds after pull 1 ended, with Hyporock's Blessing of Protection, Divine Shield, Lay on Hands and Blessing of Sacrifice all on cooldown. That pull wiped. Third, Disc Priest's position at the pull. He was 40, 35 and 52 yd from the opener on the three pulls, and 52 yd is outside every heal he has. Pull 1 worked fine at 40 yd, so treat this as a habit to tighten rather than the cause of the wipe.

The comp

The comp was fine. Four kicks covered 27 of the 28 reachable Piercing Hiss casts, which is about the ceiling when 30 arrive over 6 minutes. Battle res, bloodlust and every dispel type this dungeon asks for were on the bar. The one capability this key wanted is single-target burst on demand, to pull a 20.3M chieftain out of a pack. Arcane and Ret both have it. It went into the wrong target rather than being missing.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

Melee numbers in this report are doubled

Arbiter counts SWING_DAMAGE and SWING_DAMAGE_LANDED as separate hits, and the client logs both for every landed swing. This key has 1,227 and 1,278 of them. Veng DH's melee intake reads 19.3M and is really about 9.7M, so his 56.4M total is nearer 46.8M and the party's 95,159,172 is nearer 85M. Spell damage is unaffected, so the Unstable Totem, Blood Sacrifice and Septic Spatter figures are correct as printed. Every percentage in this analysis is taken against the inflated party total, so they all read slightly low.

Hyporock did press a defensive at 6:28

The deaths table says he pressed nothing before dying at 6:28. He cast Divine Shield at 6:14 and it ran its full 8 seconds to 6:22, then he died 6 seconds after it dropped. He also battle-ressed Veng DH at 6:11, 4 seconds after the tank went down and with the pack still on him.
