Wrong target4 High Evolutionists, none diedgroupBad pullpulled 16 s after Rav'i, cooldowns downgroupTipCleanse Envenom the moment it lands

The pull after Rav'i had 4 High Evolutionists, none of them died, and half the party's damage went into Hatchlings.

Rav'i died, then the next pull wiped in under a minute and the key was dropped. The group went in about 16 s after the boss, with several big cooldowns still down.

That pull held four High Evolutionists. None of them died, and every Mass Envenom they cast went through. Poison Cleansing Totem cleared the first wave of Envenom quickly. Once it ran out, Envenom stayed on people much longer and the party went down with it.

This was a group problem with pull timing and kill order. No single player lost it.

How it went

  1. 7:23CascadeHyporock and Balance Druid in 5 s, to Septic Spatter and Unstable Totem. Hyporock went first. No defensive pressed by either.
  2. 8:59Arcane Mage to Regurgitate from Rav'i. No defensive pressed.

  4. 12:42Full wipeBalance Druid, Hyporock, Resto Shaman, Arcane Mage and Brewmaster Monk in 10 s, to Envenom and Rattle. Balance Druid went first. 4 of 6 with no defensive pressed.
  5. 13:10The key was dropped 13:10 in, with 14:44 left on the timer.

What to change, biggest first

  1. After Rav'i, wait until the healer and Hyporock have their big cooldowns back.
  2. Kill High Evolutionists first in that pack, and assign Mass Envenom kicks before the pull.
  3. Balance Druid and Hyporock: cleanse Envenom whenever it is on someone and your cleanse is ready.
  4. Resto Shaman: save Poison Cleansing Totem for Mass Envenom.

What the group changes together

Wait for cooldowns after Rav'i. The wipe pull started about 16 s after the boss with Healing Tide Totem, Ice Cold and Hyporock's Lay on Hands and Divine Shield all down. Then change the kill order in that pack. Half the party's damage went into Hatchlings from the eggs, and the High Evolutionists that cast Envenom and Mass Envenom were left alive. Kill them first and assign Mass Envenom kicks before the pull.

The comp

This comp had four ways to remove poison, which is more than Altar of Fangs needs. One cleanser was never pressed and the totem was spent early. The comp was fine.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

Read Brewmaster Monk's mitigation score as a floor

The grader now counts Celestial Infusion, and this grade moved from F to D-. Mitigation reads 35% uptime (time with a defensive active) and 38% of the worst 5-second windows covered. Two gaps in the grader still hold it down. Purifying Brew leaves no buff, so none of the 104 presses count toward this score, including 3 in the 12 s before the death. Celestial Infusion is an absorb, and in the log damage used it up after a median 7.7 s of its 16 s, which the grader reads as time without a defensive. Shuffle is left out on purpose, because it was up for almost the whole key whatever was pressed. Read 27 as a floor.

Where the damage went in the wipe pull

In the log from 12:05 to 12:53, Hatchlings took 44-59% of each player's damage, Bloodletters 21-39%, High Evolutionists 7-22%. All 13 kills were Hatchlings. The pull held 4 High Evolutionists, 2 Ula'tek's Chosen and 1 Rattling Writhe by unique GUID.
