Bad pullTender pack chained in, mobs loose on healerBlood DKTipUnder 40% with a bleed: Lay on Hands, not Wake of Ashes

The tank chained the Tender pack into the opener, and the party took about 3 times the damage of earlier Den groups.

Blood DK pulled the Tender pack 7 seconds after opening on the first Striker. For about 20 seconds, a Gatherer, the Matriarch and the Yearlings hit the healer and DPS instead of him. The party took 587k damage a second in the first half minute of the pack. The two earlier groups on this opener took about a third of that. Damage on the pack beat both of theirs, with Time Warp and burst cooldowns early. The pack was still above half health when Fury Warrior died at 1:03. Hyporock and the healer followed within 20 seconds. The pull ended in a full wipe, and the group left at 2:22. This wipe is on Blood DK's pull.

Blessing of Protection on Fury Warrior

Fury Warrior was at 26% with a Razor Dive bleed and a Gatherer on him when you pressed it. It cleared the bleed and he lived almost half a minute longer. Your Divine Shield came at about half health right after a Feast of Misery and also cleared the curse.

PRESSLay on Hands

WHEN
When a Razor Dive bleed has you under 40% and the healer is swamped
WHY
You died at 1:16 with Lay on Hands and Stoneform both ready, pressing Wake of Ashes on the way down. Your Lay on Hands press came half a second after you died.
PAYOFF
Lay on Hands, or Stoneform to clear the bleed, keeps the top DPS in a pull the group was still fighting.

How it went

  1. 1:03Full wipeFury Warrior, Hyporock, Resto Shaman, Arcane Mage and Blood DK in 53 s, to Razor Dive, Rotten Ground and Earth Bolt. Fury Warrior went first. 7 of 9 with no defensive pressed.
  2. 2:22The key was dropped 2:22 in, with 27:32 left on the timer.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Blood DK: stack the opener on yourself before tagging the Tender pack
  2. Without an Enrage removal, kill the Matriarch before the Yearlings
  3. Set a kick order on the Tender's Earth Bolt
  4. Hyporock: Lay on Hands or Stoneform under 40% with a bleed ticking

What the group changes together

This route's opener is the Strikers, Gatherers, Spirit of Hunger, Matriarch and Yearlings. Friday's timed group took the Tender pack as its own second pull. Thursday's group chained it in once the opener was stacked and held it with no deaths. Today it came 7 seconds in, before the opener was on the tank. Agree before the key whether the Tender pack joins the opener, and tag it only once everything is on the tank. Give the Tender a kick order, since each Earth Bolt hits for up to 436k. Most were stopped until people started dying.

The comp

Nobody in this group can remove an Enrage, so Mother's Wrath stayed on the Matriarch once the Yearlings died. Her swings on the tank roughly doubled. Before the healer died that added about 0.9M, a small share of what the party took. Without an Enrage removal, kill the Matriarch before the Yearlings die.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

Was the pull too big

Not on its own. The 10-08 opener was bigger (two Tenders, seven Gatherers) and had no deaths. In matched 32 s windows from keydb, party intake was 587k/s today, 218k/s on 10-09 and 171k/s on 10-08. Melee was 298k/s against 39k/s and 42k/s. Blood DK took 21M of melee in the pull; the Guardians took 4.1M and 6.9M on the same opener. The grader puts his mitigation near what Blood can hold, so part of that gap is Blood taking more raw melee than a Guardian by design. The rest is the extra mobs, Mother's Wrath and 3.6M on non-tanks from 0:34 to 0:53. Party damage on the pack was 2.29M/s against 1.92M/s and 2.14M/s.

Where the grades read wrong

Resto Shaman's F is a floor. The grader notes the key needed 192k/s of healing, more than 95% of the 55 keys the scale was built from. The Defensives tab lists Hyporock's Divine Shield at 79% health. That reading comes after the shield's own 99k heal. A second earlier he was at 51%, after a Feast of Misery channel had taken him from 95% to 38%. His 1:47 death flags Divine Protection as ready, but it had been back for about one second.
