Timed by three and a half minutes, but 20 of 46 Lava Bolts got through - and only one of the two deaths was avoidable.

Comfortably timed, 26:35 against a 30:00 par. Two deaths, both on Atroxus at 16:03, and they have completely different answers.

**Whose fault was the double death?** BM Hunter's is the one that was preventable. He was ground down over 11.5 seconds - a very long time to die - with Exhilaration and Survival of the Fittest both off cooldown and neither pressed, while four different people healed him for 714,651. Hyporock's is not his: he pressed Lay on Hands 5.4 seconds before he died, which is the correct button, and that press put Forbearance on him and locked out Divine Shield and Blessing of Protection for the rest of his life. Divine Protection was 57 seconds into a 65-second cooldown. He had literally nothing left, took 1,045,889 in 4.6 seconds against an 825,840 health pool, and received 87,679 of healing. That is an overwhelm, not a mistake.

The group-level problem is interrupts. 56 of 71 reachable casts stopped, 79% - the worst of the four keys - and the entire gap is one spell: **Lava Bolt, 20 of 46 leaked.**

How it went

  1. 16:04CascadeBM Hunter and Hyporock in the same second, to Toxic Aura and Poison Pool. 1 of 2 with no defensive pressed.
  2. 26:14Timed with 3:24 to spare.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Resto Shaman: use Wind Shear. Seven casts in 26 minutes on a 12-second cooldown is the whole reason 20 Lava Bolts landed, and it is the biggest single upgrade available to this group.
  2. BM Hunter: Exhilaration and Survival of the Fittest were both up while you died over 11.5 seconds. On a slow death like that, press something.
  3. Hyporock: nothing to change on the Atroxus death - Lay on Hands was the right press and it locked Forbearance behind it. You had nothing left.
  4. Ret Paladin: nothing to change on output or interrupts, and the two battle resurrections saved the pull. Consider Blessing of Sacrifice or Lay on Hands on a teammate dying slowly.
  5. Group: 79% interrupt coverage was the worst of the four keys and all of it was Lava Bolt - assign it.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

The interrupt gap has one name on it

Lava Bolt was the only spell that leaked at all in this key. 46 casts, 26 stopped, 20 through.

Who stopped them: Hyporock 5, Ret Paladin 4, Doryhunky 3, BM Hunter 3. **Resto Shaman: 0.**

She cast Wind Shear 7 times in a 26-minute key. Wind Shear is a 12-second cooldown; over 23:53 of combat that is on the order of a hundred opportunities, and she used seven of them. Her interrupt axis scored **7 out of 100** - 1 stop against 12 expected - and that is not a banding artifact, it is the measurement.

This is the single highest-leverage change available to the group. A Resto Shaman kicking on cooldown converts most of a 21% leak rate into zero, and it costs one global cooldown each time.

Worth saying plainly, because the rest of her sheet is excellent: throughput 96 and response 96 are near the top of the scale. She covered 89% of the 189 M that needed an outside heal and put back 51% of what landed in the party's worst windows. The healing is not the problem. The kick is.

Player by player

**Doryhunky - B+, 82.** Mitigation 95: 99% of the uptime his kit can hold and **100% of the worst windows covered**, up from 88% in Den an hour earlier. Utility 98, three of the roughly four things his kit offered. Nothing to fix. His damage axis (65) is again a rank against his own damage dealers, not a standard.

**Resto Shaman - B, 77.** Covered above. Throughput and response both 96; interrupts 7. The grade is being held down by one button.

**Hyporock - B+, 83.** Top damage in the key at 217,087, 117% of the other damage dealers' median - his best relative output of the night. Interrupts 95, 17 stops against 9 expected. The death cost him 5 points and, as above, was not avoidable. Holy Power overcap 25%.

**Ret Paladin - A-, 84, the best grade in the key.** 211,496 damage, 14 stops against 10 expected, and **two battle resurrections cast** - he is the reason the Atroxus pull did not become a wipe. Holy Power overcap 17%, eight points better than Hyporock on the same spec and nearly the same build. He never pressed Blessing of Sacrifice or Lay on Hands; on a key where a teammate died over 11.5 seconds, one of those was available.

**BM Hunter - C-, 64.** The gear has to be said first: **291 item level against 316-319 for everyone else**, and a Raider.IO score of 1745 against 2739-3203. At 75% of the other damage dealers' median he is roughly where 25 item levels puts you, so the damage number is close to fair rather than a play problem. The death is the real item - 11.5 seconds with two defensives up and neither pressed. Focus overcap 21% is the secondary one.

What the enemy chose, and what it did not

Nether Dash hit all five players 67-132 times each and is excused for everybody - the enemy picked the targets. Same for Savage Leap and Hulking Claw. Nobody in this key took avoidable damage that comparable players did not: **all five scored 100 on mechanics.**

Damage eaten by shields on the enemies was 0.6% - 6.65 M of Brutal Slams on the Brutal Overseer, and that shield carries no dispel type. There was nothing to strip. Compare Ruby Life Pools an hour later, where the same measurement was 18.3%.

Dispels were a non-issue: one dispellable debuff landed all key and it did 982,982 damage over 7 seconds.
