Overpullran 120 yd into the Belcher pack, 21 mobsBlood DKWrong targetLightgorged Lashers never killedgroup

Over at 0:38: the tank ran 120 yards into the Belcher pack on the pull, 21 mobs live by 0:30, four players dead by 0:38, and four Lightgorged Lashers healed back 40% of what the party landed.

Decided in its first thirty seconds. The tank engaged the grove's first pack at 0:10 and kept running: by 0:28 he was standing on the Sporeblight Belcher's pack, 122 yards from where he started, with 21 enemies awake behind him and six more joining at 1:23 — sixteen Lashers, four Lightgorged Lashers, four Underbrush Stalkers, a Radiant Spellsower, a Virid Grovekeeper and the Belcher in all. The archive's timed openers fight the first pack alone, where it stands, at about 159k of party damage per second; last night's abandoned +16 pulled the two together and ran 480k. Tonight ran 371k in a typical second, 953k in the worst ten, and the mage, the warrior, Hyporock and the healer were all dead between 0:33 and 0:38.

What kept it from being recoverable is the thing this dungeon punishes every time: nobody killed a Lightgorged Lasher. Their Pollen Surge — an instant, unkickable, undispellable heal on every plant nearby — put 49.5 M back into the pack, 40% of the 122 M the party managed to land, while a third of that damage went into the sixteen small Lashers. The four that mattered finished the pull at 42%, 69%, 69% and 86%.

Everything after 0:38 was people releasing, running the twenty yards back in and dying again — eleven deaths in under two minutes; the tank went down at 1:58 after nine million damage in fifteen seconds and the last two followed within three seconds. Whose fault is not a hard question here; the grades below are two minutes of noise.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Tank: engage the grove's first pack where it stands and fight it there; the Belcher pack is a second pull, 60–80 yards on. Both timed openers on record did it that way with zero deaths.
  2. Everyone: Lightgorged Lashers first. Four of them healed the pack 49.5 M tonight; the sixteen small Lashers you killed instead were 2.1 M each.
  3. If the tank does pull both anyway: the party stands with him on the Belcher and Lightgorged Lashers get every AoE's centre — not the small Lashers at the edge.
  4. Kick Light Bolt Volley (4 s cast, hits everyone for ~570k); it got through twice, and the healer and mage stopped nothing.
  5. After four deaths at 0:38 with 27 mobs at full health, releasing and running back in is three more deaths each; call it there.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

The pull, as the log records it

Positions come off the advanced combat-log block on each player's own casts. The tank's first cast is at (1300, 2100); the archive's two timed openers on this side put the first pack at roughly (1350, 2057) and the Belcher pack at (1430, 2042). By 0:28 the tank was at (1410, 2043) — through the first pack and onto the second — and the whole party was at (1409–1429, 2038–2047) with him. The fight then settled back to (1375, 2050), between the two packs, which is where everyone died.

Enemies by first contact (a hit or a cast): nine by 0:20, twenty-one by 0:30, and six more — five Lashers and a fourth Lightgorged Lasher — at 1:23, twenty-seven in all. Twelve of the sixteen small Lashers died (2.1 M health each); nothing else did. The Belcher, whose Spouting Floret is the 1 M-per-player unavoidable pulse every ~32 seconds, was at 75% when the key was dropped, and Floret alone was 16% of everything the party took.

For scale: last night's +16, where the tank made the same move, was 17 mobs and 7 deaths in 2:07. This was 27 and 11 in 2:14.

Pollen Surge: the pack out-healed the party

Lightgorged Lasher's Lightbloom Pollination is instant — no cast bar, nothing to kick — and applies Pollen Surge to every allied plant in range, a heal-over-time ticking 5% of maximum health. Four of them were in this pull. Between them they healed 49,478,973 on the pack. The party landed 122,349,947. Those are the two numbers that describe the fight.

Where the damage went instead: 33.5% into the sixteen small Lashers, 21.9% into the Stalkers, 18.3% into the Lightgorged Lashers, the rest across the Spellsower, Grovekeeper and Belcher. Nothing but the small Lashers was ever below 60% except the Spellsower (24%) and one Lightgorged Lasher (42%).

This is the second time in two nights this group shape has done exactly this; the +16 on 09-13 healed 46.4 M the same way. The rule for this side of the dungeon is unchanged: the two (here, four) Lightgorged Lashers die first, before the small ones, before anything, and the first pack is fought where it stands.

What the grades are and are not

A two-minute wipe is not a sample. The damage axis is a rank on total damage while alive, so Hyporock's 98 says he was in the fight the longest (three deaths, three re-entries) and the warrior's 47 says she was dead the most — neither says anything about rotation. The healer's throughput reads 28 and the tool itself flags that demand ran 270k/s, past the 95th percentile of every key the scale was cut on; her 126k HPS in that window is a floor, not a grade. Interrupts: the tank stopped seven casts, Hyporock and the warrior one each, the healer and mage none; Light Bolt Volley (a 4 s cast, kickable, ~570k on everyone) got through twice of four. Nobody's mechanics number means anything when the whole pull was the mechanic.

On Hyporock's three deaths: 2.0 M in six seconds at 0:38 with Divine Protection up, 1.2 M at 1:10 with nothing, 1.3 M at 1:43 with Lay on Hands landed — Spouting Floret was 28%, 71% and 68% of those windows respectively, and it is unavoidable once the Belcher is in the pull. The one line worth keeping: after the first four deaths there was nothing to run back into.
