Avoidable damage7 Infernos caught 3-5 players eachgroupTipDivine Shield when Living Bomb lands on you

Eleven deaths and not one resurrection: the group ran back into the same fire camp for four minutes, ate seven Infernos in a row, and left at 14:33 with a boss down.

Melidrussa died without a death on the boss, and then the key was lost in one place: the Primalist camp past her, where a pull holding a Blazebound Destroyer, a Primalist Cinderweaver, a Thunderhead and an Ashseer Flamelasher killed ten people between 9:05 and 13:01. No resurrection was cast all key (the raw log has no resurrect event), so every one of the eleven deaths was a release and a run back into the same fight, and fifteen seconds each is the 2:45 the timer shows. The group left at 14:33 with 13:27 still on a 28:00 par.

Whose fault: the group's, collectively. The pull was too big to hold and nobody changed it between deaths. The Destroyer cast Inferno seven times in that span, once every 27 seconds, and each of the seven casts caught three to five players, 28 applications in all (counted on the raw log). Living Bomb killed its four carriers, you among them; Electrical Discharge and Flaming Barrage took the rest.

Your sheet is the best of the five at B-: 248,044 damage a second, 117% of the other dealers' median, and 17 real stops out of 23 Rebukes, the cleanest kick record in the party. Your two deaths are both simple. A single 733,804 Molten Steel hit at 4:35 took 88% of your bar at once, and the Living Bomb at 9:28 did 1.1M in five seconds while both your cooldowns were already spent. Brewmaster Monk's F is mostly the grader's problem, not his; see the last section before you read anything into it.

What to change, biggest first

  1. Living Bomb on you is a Divine Shield press, and Divine Protection plus Word of Glory when Shield is down. At 9:22 both were spent, Divine Protection sixteen seconds earlier on an Inferno that was already ending; hold it for the bomb, whose 1.1M is the bigger number.
  2. When the Blazebound Destroyer starts Inferno, be twenty yards away when the bar fills. Seven casts caught three to five players each, and it cannot be kicked or stunned.
  3. Molten Steel is a puddle with no caster; both hits all key were somebody standing in it. Watch the ground under Defier Draghar.
  4. To whoever leads the next group: a pull that has killed the party once does not get run back into. Reset it or split it.

Notes

Where the numbers need a second look

The four-minute pull

The tables show 13:05 of combat in two pulls; the second is everything after the boss, because the group never left combat between deaths. The deaths sit in it like this (all from the death table): Demo Lock 9:05 to Electrical Discharge, Living Bomb and Inferno with every defensive he had pressed and your Lay on Hands on him; you 9:28 to Living Bomb; Resto Shaman and Demo Lock 9:31 to Electrical Discharge and Inferno; Assass Rogue 9:38 to Electrical Discharge after ten seconds and 835k of healing; Assass Rogue again 10:42; Resto Shaman 11:37 to Living Bomb; Brewmaster Monk 11:44 to 3.2M of Flaming Barrage in eight seconds with nothing pressed; Demo Lock 12:06 and Assass Rogue 13:01 to Living Bomb.

Three spells did it. Inferno (373692) is a 3.5-second cast that cannot be kicked; when it finishes it stamps a five-second debuff on everyone in range. The Destroyer cast it at 9:01, 9:27, 9:54, 11:36, 12:08, 12:34 and 13:00, catching three to five players each time; the group took 147 hits for 14.5M, 6% of everything it took. Living Bomb (373693) is a six-second debuff on one player, roughly 170k a tick at this level, then an explosion; all four of its kills were the carrier. Electrical Discharge from the Thunderhead was the killing blow on three. Cinderbolt got through 18 of 35 times.

This is a pull that has to be smaller, or has to be reset when it goes wrong. Running back into it four times is what turned two deaths into eleven.

Your two deaths

4:35, Molten Steel. It comes from no caster, which is what a ground effect looks like in a log, and it hit two people all key: Resto Shaman at 3:56 for 449k with 183k absorbed, and you at 4:35 for 733,804 with 50k of overkill. There was nothing to react to; it was one hit. The fix is not standing there while Defier Draghar is up.

9:28, Living Bomb. The Cinderweaver put it on you at 9:20.7 and it applied at 9:22.7; the death table shows 1,104,023 of Living Bomb in your five-second window against 351,635 of healing, and the raw log shows the first tick alone at 159,358. The table says no defensive was pressed, and there was little to press: Divine Shield had gone at 6:40 on the boss and Divine Protection at 9:06, as the first Inferno was already ending, so both were down (cast times off the raw log). What was left was Word of Glory, and you cast Divine Storm through it. Divine Shield makes the whole thing, ticks and explosion, do nothing; when it is down, Divine Protection plus Word of Glory in the two seconds between the cast and the first tick is the fallback, and that means holding Divine Protection for the bomb rather than spending it on an Inferno that is already ending.

What the tables get wrong here

Brewmaster Monk's F rests on a mitigation number of 17 (6% uptime of the 13% this kit can hold) and a utility of 0. Both are the grader not understanding a Brewmaster: Stagger is passive and never shows as a button, and the not-a-button list at the bottom of the report files Purifying Brew and Keg Smash as procs, which they are not. Do not read that F as a verdict on his tanking. The one mark that stands is dying at 11:44 to 3.2M of Flaming Barrage in eight seconds with 3.6M of healing coming in and no defensive pressed.

Resto Shaman's throughput row says it: this key asked 146,080 a second of outside healing, past the 95th percentile of the corpus the curve was cut on, so her 78 is a floor, not a grade.

Your kicks were fine tonight, unlike in the +16 an hour later: 23 Rebuke presses, 17 stops, 5 that landed on a cast someone else had just ended, 1 on a mob that was not casting (classified on the raw log). Holy Power overcap of 271 of 935 (29%) is the usual AoE flood.
